Mo and I felt like Egyptian slaves, burying DNR tile

This took two days. Doug dumped soil in from the precarious edge and we had to shovel it back to cover the drainage pipes. Mo said God spoke to her during this time and said, "Mo, don't become a tiler." Well, at least we have some measure of future career clarity! Plus she earned the tuition for her summer Anatomy and Physiology class.
Mo, 19, Doug 55, Diane 51, Brent 15

It looks like Brent helped, but don't let that fool you. He was either at golf practice, baseball games, or in school. He got out early the last day and came to help with the last 20 feet. And, of course, told us about how to do it better according to him.... grrr. I keep trying to remember I was 15 once too.

Pouring the walls

It started to rain....

That's a BIG boom!

Water in the pump-out
Can you just feel the drizzle?

Doug's borrowed tile plow tractor.
What a day the first pour of the walls turned out to be. Our contractor said the forecast showed no rain, but it backed up from Missouri. Wretched state! Even though it was a light mist, it made everything greasy and slippery and Doug had to pull the cement trucks in and out of the field. I wonder if crops will EVER grow there again! They couldn't use the real lane because that was MUCH too muddy! After a while, Daniel Keith came and drug the trucks with his bulldozer. That helped (until the one guy thought he was slipping into the pit, stepped on the brake, and popped the chain. Sigh.)

The view of the machine shed from the hog barn. Huge pile of dirt used to be the back cattle lot.

About 45 truckloads in all

So many drivers- it was hard to help them all find the driveway to the south. That's Shaw's building in the background

Nine guys from Davenport pour the floor. They stayed at Pull-er-Inn last night.
